Mental Omega 3.0 - February Update!

So what's been going on with Mental Omega 3.0? Completion of voiceovers for 62 units and multiplayer issues. Read the status report on our website.

We have finally released the information on Epsilon Infantry. Now that profiles for all heroes and heroines have been published, you can take a look at the standard 8-directional preview images for them! Who do you think will be your favourite?

This war begins anew. As you may already know, Mental Omega 3.0 will retell the events of Red Alert 2, continuing where Red Alert 1 left off and branch out into an expanded universe with brand new missions for all three factions. It means that the previous policy of "Yuri thought that his Boomers were not good enough in previous war so he replaced them with the Resheph" is no longer valid. Everything that's presented in the mod is a part of our new timeline and the events of Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are being retconned. The story will go in a different direction than Yuri's Revenge did and lead to a completely new ending with two acts, with Act One having 36 missions (12 per side).

However, since the missions are really challenging and do require a save/load function, the full campaign will not be released until Ares DLL reenables it. The first public beta will contain 6 missions as a demo of what's to come.

Visit our website to see more, including new pictures of infantry by ImP_RuLz and buildings by Bu7loos. Stay tuned!

Command & Conquer (Free To Play) News!

Hey everyone! It's been a while since we haven't got some news about the upcoming Command & Conquer free to play platform here, although there was a community summit, a picture distributed on several C&C sites (while PPM was naturally ignored), among other things. But, today, a magazine from France called Canard PC has published some real information about the game. And the french community CnCSaga has done a good job on giving us the data (as well as CNCNZ.comHERE).

Anyway, here's what matters:

[3 Factions]
- Asian-Pacific Alliance (China has been renamed to prevent problems on that country, but it works in the same way like China with the well known cheap infantry, among other things)
- Global Liberation Army
- European Union (replacing USA)

[Design and Technical Info]
- Dynamically destructible buildings with interiors modelled (if HQ is taking a damage, you can see inside).
- Dynamic units' dialogues (like in Company of Heroes).
- Unfortunately, camera is still facing to the ground.

[Game Modes]
- Skirmish.
- Multiplayer deathmatch.
- Co-op missions.

[Monetarisation]
- Generals unlockable by leveling up or paying.
- Possible purchasable cosmetic items.
- The devs say that they'll avoid pay to win. It's not clear what do they mean with that.

[Online Progress]
- The game is not an MMO (not persistent in the conflict), but has a progression system. This also means that you'll have to be online to play it.

For every other information that we haven't posted here, check the Community BattleCast Primetime #18:

Note that this video was created before the Canard PC release this info. And it also covers news about mods, such as Tiberium Essence and few others.

Doom Desire March 2013 Update

First news post in this year, but it doesn't come with nothing. Mostly focused on Paladin stuff, and making the ingame resource gfx, which is described below.

Paladin Eidolon
This time as a structure. They can support each other after deploy.

Paladin Dreamspark
These strange creatures allow Paladins to quickly even the odds when severely outnumbered. Their bodies don't last forever, though, and they might die after some time.
They're available only through the Dream Spark support power.

Paladin Phantasm
A manifestation of pure fear, their mere presence can make living creatures panic and run away. Completely mindless, they are driven only to cause as much fear as possible, before they dissipate into nothingness.

Paladin Protector
Basic base defense unit (as name suggests). They attack the enemies (both ground and air) with powerful kinetic blasts.

Paladin Defense Structures
Paladin Eidolon, Crystal of Delusions and Crystal of Vengeance. All with their charge-up and idle anims. Eidolons and Crystals of Vengeance can support each other.
This should also be all for Paladin defense structures, as they're very unlikely to get more.

The Crystalline
Years before the alien invasion, some people started to report sighting of strange, small, bluish crystals, suddenly appearing in remote Earth locations. The information about them never got into the wider public, though. Not until just few months before the alien attack, when their growth rapidly increased, with an influx of mental breakdowns and homicides in settlements nearby.

Soon after, the crystals got their name, "The Crystalline".

Tiberian Sun: Third (or more) Side Tutorial.

Hello everyone! Despite my inactivity in these days (or months), a lot of things happened in this place and, hopefully, I'll get them all listed soon in the news section of this community. People has posted a couple of tutorials in these days, but one of them is definitelly a must read for those who wanna modify Tiberian Sun.

Multiple MCVs, con.yards and factions (*****) - by SuperJoe

The tutorial teachs you how to create new factions and how to hack the game to play against them and even how to shut up EVA. This is not the first tutorial that does that, but it is certainly the best (and most complete) solution I've heard so far. Here's a snippet:

Quote:
This tutorial allows you to have separate MCV / Construction yard for every faction, and it will allow you to add a 3rd (or more) factions into the game. All of these things work with the AI as well. This method will force you to sacrifice a few things:

1. Short Game will be forced off. Means to win you must destroy all enemy units, not just buildings.
2. Unit Count will be forced to one. You will only start a match with your factions MCV.
3. Bases mode will be forced on. The AI would suck anyway with Bases off, so no big loss here.

The logic is based on the fact the AI needs to own the structure listed in BuildConst, but that structure does NOT need to be a construction yard. It can be a fake invisible and immune structure that blows up when the AI has lost. When the AI has this fake structure and any sides-specific construction yard it will be able to build up it's base normally.

If you only want to have side-specific MCV / construction yard for 2 factions (GDI and Nod), simply ignore all the Forgotten parts in the tutorial.

Perhaps, you could have unit count higher than 1 if you set the price of all other starting units to 0 and, maybe the starting MCV should be more expensive than 2500. But Unit Count 1 is not a bad deal at all.

And finally, as a bonus, the last post of that topic explains how to get AI to automatically replace the MCV. Read tha whole tutorial HERE.

Public voxels for your mods!

Hey everyone! We have a Voxels Forum at Media Hut where submit their voxel models for Tiberian Sun or Red Alert 2 and it is quite active, regardless of our news activity. Submitting voxels is a good opportunity to improve your voxel skills as you can get advice from experienced voxellers to improve the quality of your graphics. The best voxels are spotlighted, although we haven't been spotlighting voxels for a couple of years, since errr... let's say that some of the users here are very perfectionist and they voiced in a quite loud way in the lastest attempts to spotlight something. Nonetheless, we do appreciate voxels submitted to our forums and, once in a while, we promote the good ones, regardless of spotlight. At least these ones were good at tricking me to think that they seem to be good voxels. Click at their pictures to check them out and download.

- Dragon Tank (remake from Generals) by Atomic Noodles.

- Robot Tank by Zero18.

- Yuri Mobile ICBM Launcher by NimoStar

And finally, KALAPS S8 has an interesting set of voxels at this topic, which is unfortunatelly very disorganized and doesn't follow our guidelines. Here's one of them:

And there are much more goodies there. Visit our Voxels Forum and contribute with it.

Centurion Siege Crawler Returns!

The mechanical monstrosity that is the Centurion Siege Crawler returns! The last Soviet unit to be revealed was in fact the classic Mental Omega behemoth, which returns in 3.0 with completely new art created by mevitar as a unit unique to the Chinese. You can watch the reveal video right now!

Costing untold amounts of money and with a development period spanning several decades, the Centurion Siege Crawler is without a doubt the ultimate siege engine. The Soviet Units page has been finally updated with the Centurion's profile, including a preview picture the necessary important details. While in previous version the Centurion worked as a one-unit army in many situations, in 3.0 the Centurion has been adjusted to fit the role of a support long-range unit which is a great supplement to the slow but powerful Chinese army.

Progress with Voxel Section Editor III

Hello everyone. About a week ago, I've got an email from HBD, who used to contribute with the development of Voxel Section Editor III a couple of years ago.

He has made a fork of the project using a very old version of the program (after 1.38 and before the new rendering engine) and he has brought to it a lot of features, such as a new autonormals method, 3D flood fill, circle/ellipse tool. He also had a revamped the interface the program and the 2D and 3D rendering engine. The picture below shows how his version looks like (click at it for full size):

I've recently imported his autonormals method to the current beta. The results are good, as long as your model clearly distinguishes the interior from exterior. And it's the fastest autonormals method ever.

My next step is to bring the elipse (and filled ellipse) tool, although I've noticed that I'll have to reorganize the way the tools are distributed in the interface at the moment, which is why this is taking more time to be merged with the rest of the project.

So, stay tuned at the Voxel Section Editor III Forums for further progress of this operation.

Chat about your favourite games at Project Perfect Mod

Hello! For those who complain that this place is too much centered at Command & Conquer games (which really is), we have a good news. We've recently expanded our Game Chat section of the forum, based on the topics that were discussed on that section.

Until now, we used to have a small section there for Command & Conquer chat and Warcraft. Despite having a specific C&C chat section, a lot of Command & Conquer posts hit the generic area. Anyway, after some analysis of the topics posted we've created a couple of new forums there:

- Starcraft Chat for games like Starcraft 1, 2 and their expansion packs.
- Diablo Chat: For Diablo 1, 2 and 3.
- Dune Chat: For Dune 2, Dune 2000, Emperor: Battle for Dune and even the D2K mod from OpenRA and other mods.
- Dawn of War Chat: For all Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War games and expansions.
- Halo Chat: For Halo 1, 2, 3, Halo Wars, etc.
- Petroglyph Chat: Talk about every game developped by Petroglyph Games, such as Star Wars: Empire at War and expansions, Universe at War, Guardians of Graxia, Panzer General: Allied Assault, Battle for Graxia and... Victory!
- Minecraft Chat: For Minecraft and all your blocky creations on it.

We want to expand to another games, but we won't do it blindly. We need visitors who are interested on these games and the first start is to express that you are interested by talking about them in our forums.

Reinforcements have arrived: more public voxels.

We have a couple of interesting Voxels submitted last week at our forums. Here we go:

-> Allied Sunburst Drone [RA2], by Atomic_Noodles

This is a small drone for the Allies (RA2), probably inspired on the Empire of the Rising Sun from RA3.

-> Striker [RA2], by Zero18

This bot includes a tutorial about its animation. It would certainly look better if Zero18 doubled the amount of frames of the animation making it slightly smoother. Anyway, what he's got so far already has a good potential:

And that's all for now, and a giant sized Nuke Arty from Zero18.

PPM Hosted Mod News (covering early may)

$

Hello again and let's get to the latest news about the mods hosted at PPM. I'm really short on words right now and short on time for university duties, so I'll go straight to the point:

-> The Dawn of Tiberium Age has received an enourmous map called Africatorial. It's an 8 players map, extremely wide based in the desert theme seen in the Nod missions from Tiberian Dawn (featured in the african continent, of course). The screenshot they took is so wide that I cannot post it here, so head to this topic to see the beast that is awaiting you.

-> D-Day is adding the United States Marine Corps as a subfaction of the United States. In order to use it, play as America and once you deploy the MCV, you'll have the option to either play as Army or the Marines. The Marines includes some weapons of the Pacific theater such as the LVT-4 transport, the LVT(A)-4 artillery & the LVTAA-X2 anti-air tank, among others.

Head to this topic for more details.

-> Tiberian Sun Reform has got a complete overview of the units of the Forgotten faction of this mod. Click at the picture below for more details:

-> Frontline Chaos has improved the state of the Behemoth unit, from the Legion faction. The unit will still be skinned eventually.

-> Colony Wars has received additional units recently. One of them is the Pulse Tank for the Allies and the Soldier Ant for the Colony faction, as shown respectively on both pictures below.

-> World Domination mod has displayed a huge arsenal for the Allies faction. Wolverine, Paladin Tank, Avenger IFV, Mirage Tank, Harmonizer, Hurricane and Dragonfly Drone are some of the reinforcements displayed recently. The picture below shows the Harmonizer.

And that's all for now. Visit the forums of these mods and contribute there with constructive comments. And remember that if you have a project that needs hosting, PPM is your friend.

Zee Hypnotist, from CNCNZ.com, has posted a new episode of the Command & Conquer Legos, after a hiatus of 6 months.

In this episode, Kane wants a time machine for the Brotherhood of Nod, but the only man that can help him is Einstein, who doesn't seem to be willing to cooperate. So, it's up to the agents from the Brotherhood of Nod to capture Einstein for this mission, but things go wrong and quite crazy.

This episode also features the voices from Eric Gooch replaying his role as Seth (yes, the Seth from C&C95, from God to Kane to Seth!), Plokite_Wolf and Sybert, who you may have seen at the Community Battlecast Primetime.

If you like it, post your comments at CNCNZ.com forums and watch the past episodes at the CnC Legos section there.
